Friday Five Hop and 5 Things to Do In Maryland This Weekend

Welcome to the Friday Five!  We invite you to link up your Friday Five post with us each week- any post of five things is welcome!  This week's Friday Five comes from state rep, Christina, who writes Mom’s Messy Miracles.

The Steppingstone Museum Fall & Craft Festival

At The Steppingstone Museum’s Fall & Craft Festival in Harford County, you’ll find educational activities for kids and adults. You’ll learn about the farm experience and how to how apple butter and apple cider! Kids will enjoy pumpkin painting, apple bobbing, hay rides, a straw maze and more! For the adults, there are plenty of crafters and food vendors as well as tours of The Steppingstone Museum. The event happens rain or shine, but it looks like it will be a beautiful weekend.

Visit a Zoo

No matter where you are in Maryland, there’s likely a zoo nearby. Check out the Plumpton Park Zoo in Cecil County, the Salisbury Zoo in Wicomico County, and The Maryland Zoo in Baltimore.

9th Annual Maryland Microbrewery Festival

This year’s Microbrewery Festival looks like it will be a hit! Located in Westminster, MD at the Union Mills Homestead, this festival will showcase the best of Maryland’s handcrafted microbrews from 14 breweries with over 30 types of beer. You’ll find food vendors, crafters with unique gifts for sale, live entertainment, and seminars about brewing.

Tour Oriole Park at Camden Yards

This is the first year since 1997 that the Orioles have won the AL East. This is a huge deal for Baltimore baseball fans! It would be a great time to take a tour of Oriole Park at Camden Yards. While on the tour, you’ll be able to see the dugout, the Press Level, the scoreboard/jumbotron control room, and the executive suite level.

Calvert County Fair

County Fairs are always fun! This weekend you can attend the Calvert County Fair to see farm animals, tractor pulls, and a ton of entertainment. At the Calvert County Fair, you’re bound to find something for everyone!

We love going to our county fair and wandering around looking at all of the 4-H projects!

And now it's your turn!  Link up your Friday Five post below & be sure to hop around and visit a few others in the link up!

The Baltimore Baton!

Today's post comes from our Northeast Blogger, Megan, who is sharing a special announcement with us today!

Hi friends!

I am very excited to announce that I am launching The Baltimore Baton on Instagram!
You’ve probably heard of or participated in The Blog Baton. Mason was inspired by the Raleigh Durham baton account and started The Blog Baton which I’ve participated in and LOVED.
If you haven’t heard of the concept of “passing the baton” it’s when an Instagram account and different people log on each day to post photos. The idea behind The Baltimore Baton is to show people who do not live here what they can do when visiting besides the typical tourist spots. It is also a way for locals to find new things to do or to “meet people” with similar interests. Check out @RDUBaton, @ilovetexasphoto and @NYCbaton on Instagram to see the concept in action!
How can you be a part of this? Sign up for a day! Most of the accounts above have locals “hold the baton” each day of the week. Since TBB is brand new I would like to have one person posting from the account each Saturday/or Sunday from Memorial Day to Labor Day. If you live or work in the Baltimore area feel free to email with which weekend you’d like to hold the baton and we can get you on the schedule!

Check out the rules and guidelines HERE
And make sure to follow @TheBaltimoreBaton on Instagram!

Thanks!

Thanks for sharing Megan!  Just as a heads up, we also plan on doing this for Northeast Bloggers soon, too!  So if you want to participate, but don't live in the Baltimore area, keep an eye out for more info on that coming soon!

Maryland!

I have received several inquiries lately from bloggers living in Maryland wanting to join the North East Bloggers Network.  Maryland is kind of caught in the middle, neither north or south.  The common complaint was that the Southern blogging groups would not allow the Maryland bloggers to join and we did not have a choice of Maryland either!

So, I decided to go ahead and accept Maryland bloggers to the group as well!  Because, why not?  The more the merrier!

So, welcome to Maryland bloggers & please tell your friends in Maryland, too!

Now, having said all that, please keep in mind this is for Maryland bloggers, not DC bloggers.  DC is a whole different thing and they have plenty of blogging groups for DC bloggers!
