Rebecca's Run

Hi North East Bloggers!  Today's post is a little different because I want to share something with you guys about one of our fellow North East Bloggers- Rebecca.  First of all, Rebecca is the fabulous person who did our $30 etsy shop give away a few weeks ago and writes on the blog Caravan Sonnet.

Rebecca's sister Emily recently created a special fundraiser for her called Rebecca's Run.  This purpose of this is to raise money for her many treatments for her diagnoses of Chronic Lymes Disease and Cancer.  All proceeds from this race will go towards Rebecca's treatments.

Rebecca's Run is a Virtual Race!!

You might be wondering what that is so here is all the info you need to know:

A virtual race is a race just like any other, except that there is no "official" race location, only a designated race location. A virtual race provides the opportunity for anyone to participate no matter where you live. A virtual race allows you to simply register for the race and then run during the designated race weekend (October 11th-13th, 2013) when you want and where you want(outside, indoor track, treadmill, or participate in another race. After you have completed your race email in the results when you're done (email to: rebeccasrun@gmail.com). All the results will be compiled for each category (1/2 marathon, 10k, 5k, and walk opportunity) and results will be posted on this website after the race is over. We welcome any pictures or stories to accompany your weekend- please use #rebeccasrun in any social media context !

How to participate:
In order to participate all you need to do is register for the race, run it at any point during the weekend of October 11-13th, 2013, and then email your results NO LATER THAN midnight (EST) Sunday, October 13th, 2013 if you would like to be included in the winner standings.

So, no matter where you live you can participate!  I hope you take a moment to consider joining Rebecca's race!

5 Key Pieces You Need in Your Fall Wardrobe

Welcome to the first ever North East Bloggers Network Fashion Week!  We are kicking off the festivities today with a fun guest post from Ellen!

5 Key Pieces You Need in Your Fall Wardrobe

Before you start building your Fall wardrobe , make sure you have these 5 key pieces that are up to date with the latest trends for this season.

1.     Emerald Green Anything

Mint was big this Spring but for Fall, the emerald green color trend gives a nice warm look to a drab color like dark green.   Emerald green is great for blazers as it can add a pop of cover to a plain white blouse and black slacks.

2.     Thigh High Boots

The runways are full of thigh highs…boots that is!   They look great over jeans but also give a polished yet edgy look to a skirt/sweater dress with the right shade of tights underneath.

For your first pair, stick to black or neutral so you can get the most wear out of them with a wider variety of outfits from your closet.

3.     A Winter White Sweater

Of course white is okay after Labor Day, and a winter white sweater will give a nice bright look for the dark evenings soon to come.  The great thing about this trend is that you can find winter white pieces for your wardrobe at any price and a head to toe winter white look (sweater dress or plain dress) is a beautiful look that fits the trend.

4.     A Coat with a Classic Pattern

When it comes to picking out the right coat this season choose one in a classic pattern such as hounds tooth, leopard, or plaid.   It’s a great way to look stylish when you are out somewhere in weather that requires a coat, even when you want to show off your outfit underneath!

5.     A few Gray tops!

Yes gray is very much in this year and if you have any gray items in your closet, WEAR THEM NOW!!   Gray is perfect for a sleek stylish look in the evening, whether it’s a form fitting gray blouse with dark wash skinny jeans and black boots, or even a gray sweater dress.

Ellen Ross runs her own fashion and advice blog called Ask Away.  She resides in Pennsylvania with her 4 chihuahuas.  Ellen likes to find the most affordable deal on the latest fashion trends and incorporates this into her fashion posts.  When she’s not working at her state job she enjoys blogging, shopping, organizing, and spending time outdoors.

Welcome back to Friday 5s!  I have been so excited to share all about the first ever North East Bloggers meet up we had in Philly a few weeks ago!

All pictures by Jacq of the blog justjacq!

1. Our goody bag table!  We had several items for all the bloggers who came including special treats from our sponsors The Paper Sonnet and Circus Berry!

2. Bloggers chatting about blogging, of course!  Actually it was just fun to get to know each other and we talked about our lives and all sorts of things!

3. Steph was the winner of the handmade purse we gave away from our sponsor On 3 Designs! (Julie, on the right, is the creative mind behind On 3 Designs!)

4. Our smallest participant is probably thinking "wait a minute, you mean you write stories about me on your blog!?"

5.  Our final picture at the end of the meet up!  Marla, Jacq, Steph, Julie and Rachel!  Not pictured: Peggy.

The meet up was a lot of fun and I hope we can do it again sometime!  In total 6 of the 13 bloggers who RSVPed showed up, hopefully next time we can get more participants!   It was great meeting some fellow NE bloggers!

Maryland!

I have received several inquiries lately from bloggers living in Maryland wanting to join the North East Bloggers Network.  Maryland is kind of caught in the middle, neither north or south.  The common complaint was that the Southern blogging groups would not allow the Maryland bloggers to join and we did not have a choice of Maryland either!

So, I decided to go ahead and accept Maryland bloggers to the group as well!  Because, why not?  The more the merrier!

So, welcome to Maryland bloggers & please tell your friends in Maryland, too!

Now, having said all that, please keep in mind this is for Maryland bloggers, not DC bloggers.  DC is a whole different thing and they have plenty of blogging groups for DC bloggers!

If you want to join the North East Bloggers Network click on "join" on our toolbar above!
